Pangi Valley
Cut off from the rest of Himachal for much of the year, Pangi is a cluster of remote sub-valleys along the Chandrabhaga river. Tourism here is built and run by the villages themselves — homestays instead of hotels, hosts instead of guides-for-hire.
The people of Pangi
Pangi is home to the Pangwali people, an Indigenous Himalayan community whose traditions, dress, farming and festivals shape daily life here far more than any tourist season does. These are the people you'll be sharing a meal with, not a backdrop for photos.

Planning tourism together
A consultation workshop brought local stakeholders together in Pangi to shape a practical roadmap for growing tourism — homestay support, better visibility, and staying offbeat rather than overexposed.
Learning from Spiti
Homestay owners from Pangi travelled to Spiti Valley to see an established community-tourism model firsthand — how hosts there manage guest experience, pricing and seasonal planning — and brought back ideas adapted to Pangi's own context.
The valley from above
Early paragliding trials gave a new vantage on Pangi's scale — wide riverbeds, green slopes and villages scattered across the valley floor. Adventure tourism here is growing carefully, with safety first.
Getting there & staying
Rates
All homestays are ₹1,500–2,000 per person, direct to the hosting family. Rates and availability shift seasonally — confirm before travel.
Access
Killar, in the Chanderbhaga cluster, is Pangi's administrative centre with the main bus stand, taxi stand and helipad for the valley.
